Featuring a Campaign that emphasizes Child Pregnancy as Torture

El Comite de America Latina y el Caribe para la Defensa de los Derechos de la Mujer (CLADEM) spearheaded #EmbarazoInfantilForzado in an effort to promote the implementation of policies that protect the well being of women, specifically underage girls who are victims of sexual violence and are denied proper care to address the trauma.

Since its start, the campaign has highlighted common practices of forced child pregnancy throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, including girls who become pregnant without having sought or desired it, as well as denying underage girls access to terminating their pregnancy.

The campaign aims to make visible patterns of sexual abuse and forced pregnancy at the regional level and eradicate its continuation as well as monitor the role of States to act on prevention and protecting girls.
